Job summary

KLJ is seeking an Engineering Technician IV to support transportation, aviation, municipal, utility, environmental, construction, and infrastructure projects from concept through construction.

You will gather field data, support construction activities, verify project compliance, and help solve site challenges alongside engineers, surveyors, and project managers, contributing to safer, more efficient outcomes for communities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years engineering technician experience.
• Ability to interpret plans, specifications, technical documents, and construction drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Collect, compile, analyze field data from surveys, GIS resources, plans, specifications, maps, utility records, geotechnical information, and other engineering resources.
• Support engineering and construction teams through field observations, data collection, inspections, and documentation activities.
• Evaluate existing and proposed site conditions to verify compliance with regulations, permits, plans, and project specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and technical staff on planning, design support, and construction administration.
• Assist with construction layout, reference point establishment, elevations, grades, and installation verification.
• Review calculations, quantities, design information, and construction documentation for accuracy.
• Identify site issues, safety concerns, or compliance risks and communicate findings to leadership.
• Prepare technical reports, field documentation, and project records.
• Support risk assessment with recommendations related to design, constructability, safety, and performance.
• Maintain project documentation using engineering software and field logs.
