Job summary

State of Nevada, Nevada Department of Transportation, seeks an Engineering Technician 4 in Las Vegas within the Construction Division (crew 915). The incumbent performs field inspections, testing, surveying, and related office work to document contractor work for payments.

Qualifications include an associate degree with engineering/related major and 2 years’ experience, or equivalent education/experience. On-site work only; visa sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with major course work in engineering, physics, math or related field plus 2 years in a specialized engineering function.
• High school diploma and 3 years of progressively responsible engineering related experience or equivalent.
• One year of experience as Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in field and lab tests; collect data and ensure compliance with standards.
• Review plans, documents, and specifications; prepare information in the proper format.
• Conduct technical research; verify compliance with federal/state requirements and policies.
• Maintain and file contract documents; enter data into computer systems for analysis.
• Perform field inspections of construction projects, right-of-way mapping, and surveying.
• Prepare maps, charts, and contours for projects; perform surveying staking and measurements.
• Calibrate equipment and maintain inventory; document repairs and replacements.
• Research property ownership and boundaries; perform government survey calculations.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
