Job summary

Nevada Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician 3 to support construction inspections, surveying, and materials testing in Reno, NV. The incumbent will assist engineers, maintain documentation, and work across office and field environments, including overtime and travel as needed.

Qualified candidates will have an associate degree in engineering/physics/math or related field (or equivalent combination) and relevant experience; more senior responsibilities will include

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering/physics/math or closely related field with 1 year related experience, or high school with 2 years related experience, or equivalent
• Assist engineers in performing field and laboratory tests and data collection
• Perform field inspections of construction projects, water rights, and related activities
• Draft, map, and analyze using computer aided software and surveying data
• Maintain records and contract documents per approved filing systems

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in performing field and laboratory tests and setting up equipment
• Gather and compile data, analyze technical problems, and verify accuracy against policies
• Perform field inspections of construction projects and water rights, and document findings
• Draft maps, charts, and plans; use CAD software for project documentation
• Maintain equipment, records, and contract documents; coordinate with contractors and the public
