Job summary

The Engineering Technician III at Generac Power Systems Inc. in Whitewater, WI conducts electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests on current and new product designs under supervision. You will document measurements, interpret data, and prepare formal test reports to support product qualification.

This onsite, first-shift role emphasizes hands-on testing, blueprint interpretation, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure ISO 17025 compliance and a safe, efficient lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Familiarity with ISO 17025 and laboratory testing.
• Experience with engine dynamometers preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Proficiency with Excel and Word.
• Ability to work extended hours if needed.

Responsibilities

• Set up test equipment and products in proper sequence per testing procedures.
• Perform tests on prototypes, existing, and competitor products for stated criteria involving mechanical, electrical, environmental, and electromechanical functions through ISO 17025 and Laboratory Scope of Operations.
• Use various mechanical, electrical, and electronic measurement devices.
• Accurately interpret and document measurements.
• Assist in the assembly and fabrication of test equipment and prototype products per blueprint specifications.
• Follow guidelines for bill of materials.
• Support manufacturing through troubleshooting activities; maintain test-related documentation and database records.
• Prepare formal and informal test reports.
• Assist with the Generac Engineering Laboratory Audit and 5S programs.
