Job summary

FOX Factory is seeking a hands-on prototype engineer to generate industry-leading products for automotive and vehicle applications. You will build, test, and refine shock absorber prototypes in a fast-paced lab environment, coordinating with engineering and manufacturing teams.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in prototyping with metalworking skills, data analysis ability, and readiness to travel for field testing.

Qualifications

  • HS graduate or equivalent.
  • AA degree or technical experience equivalent.
  • 3+ years prototyping automotive shock absorbers or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Perform builds, teardowns and provides written reports to support R&D testing efforts under direction of engineering staff.
  • Collects, records, summarizes and maintains data on all work and effectively communicates information to engineering.
  • Maintain shop organization and cleanliness.
  • Lead laboratory testing as assigned.
  • Organize and support offsite field testing with engineering team.
  • Follow current process as well as drive changes to increase efficiency.
  • Key contributor in the R&D process through builds and tuning efforts.
  • Works in a safe manner in accordance with Fox policies.

Position Summary

Apply building expertise to generate industry leading prototype products for our customers. Responsibilities are expected to increase from lab builder to providing engineering support in the field. Will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with numerous internal and external teams to meet deadlines.

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
  • Ability to use lathe, mill, saws, etc. is preferred.
  • Ability to learn and understand data acquisition and data analysis.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Computer competency using Microsoft Office.
  • Travel is required.
Position Qualifications
Education

HS graduate or equivalent

AA degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience

Experience

3+ years of automotive shock absorber prototyping or similar experience.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Manufacturing Environment

Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly

Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time

Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer

Travel required 1 week/quarter
