This posting is for an Engineering Technician III in the Division 9 Forsyth County Maintenance office. Responsibilities include providing technical support to the Forsyth County Maintenance Department, inspecting commercial driveway permits, utility encroachments, erosion control, traffic devices, and roadway construction. The role involves routine inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, with record and report submissions within deadlines. The employee may work in extreme environmental conditions and respond to weather events, primarily in Forsyth County but statewide if needed. Certifications in QMS Asphalt and Concrete Testing, Roadway Density, and Erosion Control Levels II and III are required and must be maintained.

Physical activities include standing, walking, talking, hearing, and exposure to extreme conditions. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle legally. Safety-toed shoes are required. The position involves transporting inmates for work details, requiring an inmate card issued by the NC Department of Public Safety, which involves a criminal background check, training, and being at least 21 years old.
Qualifications include: An Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related discipline, plus three years of technician experience, or an equivalent education and experience combination. See oshr.nc.gov/experience-guide for details.
