Job summary

CTI and Associates, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN seeks an Engineering Technician to support major engineering projects through advanced testing, data collection, and documentation.

You will oversee assembly, installation, calibration, and testing of systems and prototypes, mentor junior staff, ensure safety compliance, and collaborate across engineering teams in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field (required) or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in an engineering technician role (required), with government or regulated environments preferred.
  • Certifications in equipment operation or safety are preferred.
  • Proficiency with engineering software, equipment and tools; knowledge of DOE/DOD/commercial project standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced technical tasks to support engineering projects, including tests, measurements, and data collection for DOE, DOD, and commercial projects.
  • Assist engineers and scientists in preparing technical documentation such as schematics, blueprints, and reports.
  • Oversee assembly, installation, and testing of engineering systems and prototypes.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot advanced equipment, ensuring proper functionality and calibration.
  • Lead fieldwork activities such as surveys, inspections, and testing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and engineering staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations on-site or in the lab.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other departments to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve technical challenges.
  • Flexibility required. Willingness to adjust directives/responsibilities as needed to respond to changing conditions.

Job description

Key Responsibilities


  • Perform advanced technical tasks to support engineering projects, including conducting tests, measurements, and data collection for DOE, DOD, and commercial projects.

  • Assist engineers and scientists in preparing complex technical documentation, including schematics, blueprints, and reports.

  • Oversee the assembly, installation, and testing of engineering systems and prototypes.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot advanced technical equipment, ensuring proper functionality and calibration.

  • Lead fieldwork activities such as surveys, inspections, and testing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and engineering staff.

  • Collaborate with engineers and other departments to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve technical challenges.

  • Flexibility required. Within reason, changes to directives, assigned responsibilities, or work-related activities may be necessary at any time to respond to shifts in working conditions, opportunities, or company objectives.



Education, Experience and Requirements


  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related field (required) or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor's degree (preferred).

  • 5 years of experience in an engineering technician role (required), with experience in government projects or highly regulated environments (preferred).

  • Relevant technical certifications in equipment operation or safety (preferred).

  • Proficiency in using engineering software, equipment, and tools. Knowledge of DOE, DOD, or commercial project standards (preferred).

  • Employment is contingent upon an employee's ability to pass a background check and comply with CTI's drug and alcohol testing policy, including pre-employment and, where applicable, random or other testing during employment.

  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.

  • Must be able to travel on a full-time basis.

  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements.
