Job description

Job Title: Technician IJob Description

This position requires a dedicated and punctual individual who will be fully engaged in their responsibilities. The role involves performing forge operations, assisting with set-ups, and adhering to operation standards and work instructions. The Technician I will be expected to ensure product quality through visual inspection and precision measurement, perform minor machine maintenance, and support plant initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain 100% attendance and punctuality, remaining mentally present during shifts.

  • Perform forge operations and assist with set‑ups according to operation standards and work instructions.

  • Read and comprehend inventory tags and work instructions.

  • Accurately fill in information on labels and associated documentation when necessary.

  • Position and secure inserts, hand loads, and workpieces on machines.

  • Remove finished products from machines using hand tools and other equipment.

  • Inspect products visually for surface defects to ensure conformance to specifications.

  • Maintain and understand quality standards for both the company and customers.

  • Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments and complete associated paperwork.

  • Lead standard start‑ups and change‑overs.

  • Train and correct operators as needed.

  • Begin to understand the overall forging process and make adjustments to maintain part quality.

  • Perform minor machine maintenance and adjustments, including preventative maintenance on mechanical systems such as disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and calibration.

  • Respond to machine breakdowns for diagnostics and repairs.

  • Utilize the maintenance work order system (FIIX) for executing tasks.

  • Clean and maintain tooling.

  • Support plant initiatives and projects through direct work and effective communication.

  • Carry out clean‑up procedures.

  • Perform re‑work duties as assigned.

  • Relieve other operators for breaks as needed.

  • Execute repetitive tasks efficiently.

Essential Skills
  • Mechanical skills with the ability to use hand tools and automated equipment.

  • Basic understanding of shapes and processes.

  • Proficiency in basic mathematics including addition, subtraction, and ruler skills.

  • Operation monitoring to ensure machines are working properly.

  • Control of equipment operations and systems.

  • Quality control to ensure part consistency and quality.

  • Active listening to understand points made by others and ask questions appropriately.

  • Critical thinking to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions.

  • Monitoring performance to make improvements or take corrective actions.

  • Proactive approach to anticipate problems and always look for work when machines are not running.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $31.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
