Job Description: Construction Engineering Technician

Planate Management Group is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, USA, with a technical support center in the Philippines. We provide program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate supports the US Department of Defense (DOD) and other US federal agencies with planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services.

The Construction Engineering Technician will represent Planate to our clients by providing information and reports as required. This role involves monitoring contract compliance of contractors during construction and project scheduling on behalf of the facility owner across multiple projects, and reporting key issues to the management team.

The work will be on-site at a medical facility in Grand Junction, CO.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Document construction progress and support quality-control tests and inspections.
  • Assist the Construction Superintendent in advising the client on management actions.
  • Monitor the means and methods of construction contractors, ensuring compliance with contractual, safety, and quality standards.
  • Conduct field inspections to review construction work and compliance with design, UFCs, and safety requirements.
  • Identify and track deficiencies and deviations; collaborate with the construction team to resolve issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree or completion of an accredited Trade School or construction apprenticeship program; or 10 years of related experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience as an engineering technician, including inspection and contractor oversight of facilities.
  • Ability to organize project documents, develop progress reports, and document issues.
  • Knowledge of local codes, safety standards, and quality control processes.
  • Experience in tracking and resolving quality and safety issues.
  • Familiarity with project management documents such as RFIs, change orders, and submittal logs.
  • Knowledge of safety, scheduling, and cost control is preferred.
  • Experience with healthcare facilities is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
  • Current OSHA 30-hour training certification is desirable.
