Job Description: What you'll do
The Prototype Lab Technician will be responsible for manufacturing single-use equipment prototypes in support of customer demonstrations, customer evaluations of SU technologies, internal R&D programs, and innovation. Products will include 2D and 3D SU assemblies, tubing assemblies, including component-level parts and assembly of single-use fluid pathway consumable products.
• Work hands-on to build, modify, assemble, and package SU assemblies in the prototype lab, applying technical experience and mechanical aptitude.
• Train on work instructions to use various bioprocess films and sealing equipment
• Follow special build instructions, including equipment specifications, redlined drawings, BOMs, and review document packages in a PLM system
• Conduct feasibility of assembly methods and techniques. Experiment with new processes, equipment, techniques, methods and approaches to creating new products including fabrication of prototype parts.
• Support material inventory levels, acquire components through material move tickets and place orders with suppliers.
• Participate in cross-functional teams, working alongside Manufacturing engineers, in a highly matrixed team environment to advance programs.
• Collaborate with prototype lab resources on techniques and methods for fabrication of samples.
• Operate equipment using fundamental knowledge of best test and measurement practices, such as with data acquisition, tensile/load testing, general evaluation, and measurement diagnostics.
• Engage in troubleshooting issues in the lab and work to resolution.
• Ensure adherence to QMS, GMP, and EHS safety procedures.
Who you are
• Associate's degree or 3+ years of technical work experience in clean room manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, with previous experience independently troubleshooting assembly processes, maintaining equipment, and assembly process development.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills to describe test scenarios, deviations, non-compliances and risks technically and professionally.
• Experience working within an ISO 9001/13485 and/or cGMP environment.
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems, develop plans and advance to completion on-time and in-full.
• Diverse technical understanding and ability to apply skills/knowledge to new technology.
• Demonstrated collaboration, negotiation & conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to multi-task & handle tasks with competing priorities effectively.
• Previous experience with various forms of polymer welding; traditional heat sealing (continuous & impulse) friction welding, ultrasonic and inductive would be a plus.
