Job summary

Aprilaire's Sun Prairie Innovation Center is seeking an Engineering Technician to support engineers in developing and testing new products, components and materials, and to help improve existing products. This is a first‑shift role (8‑4) at Sun Prairie, with travel to other locations as needed.

Responsibilities include constructing models/prototypes (primarily dehumidification), preparing test setups, running tests, analyzing data, and writing detailed test reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associates degree preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude; desire to learn and perform mechanical tasks.
• 1 year experience preferred; any technical experience is a plus.
• Experience operating model shop equipment and hand tools preferred.
• Technical writing ability required.
• Machining and brazing experience a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in development and testing of new products, components and materials; improve existing products.
• Construct models and prototypes; focus on dehumidification; other projects in filtration, humidification, zoning.
• Prepare testing set-ups, build test fixtures, perform tests per procedures.
• Perform lab tests including mechanical & electrical; monitor data and write reports.
• Write detailed technical test reports and develop/improve testing procedures.
• Complete and maintain paperwork, records, samples and prototypes.
• Follow safety and Lean 5S standards.

Overview

Under the direction of our Sr. Principal Engineer – Advanced Technology, the Engineering Technician will work in and support our Sun Prairie Innovation Center by assistingengineers in the development and testing of new products, components and materials as well as helping to improve and update existing products and components.

This will be a first shift position, operating under a 8-4pm schedule, at our Sun Prairie Innovation Center.

• Employee must be willing to travel to other locations for testing as needed.
• Opportunity for overtime and use of company vehicle when available.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in the development and testing of new products, components, and materials and the improving and updating of existing products and components.
• Construct models and prototypes. Primary responsibilities will focus on Dehumidification, with other projects in Filtration, Humidification, Zoning, etc.
• Prepare testing set‑ups (i.e. equipment, fixtures, etc.), build test fixtures as required and perform tests according to procedures
• Perform tests in the lab, including standard mechanical & electrical tests, and non-standard tests still in development.
• Monitor test data, analyze, and prepare test reports.
• Write detail oriented technical test reports.
• Assist with developing and/or recommending improved or new testing procedures.
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, samples, prototypes, etc.
• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental Lean 5S standards.
