Job summary

AdventHealth in Merriam, Kansas is seeking a Maintenance Technician to replace and repair patient room equipment and to support facility systems. You will handle lighting, plumbing, electrical and HVAC tasks, ensuring safe, compliant operations in care areas.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred) and a valid driver’s license; experience in healthcare facilities is a plus. The position is full-time on the 2nd shift (12pm–10:30pm) with benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent or 5+ years of experience required.

Responsibilities

• Replaces and repairs patient room equipment including lighting, fixtures, doors and related hardware.
• Responds to electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical failures to maintain patient care areas.
• Maintains and replaces medical gas outlets and related equipment.
• Assists in installation of signage and wall-hung items; supports facility improvements.
• Communicates progress with supervisor and team; adheres to healthcare regulations and quality initiatives.

Job Description:

Replaces and repairs patient room equipment such as light bulbs, televisions, thermostats, telephones, curtain tracks, doors, door closers, corner guards, wall base, floor coverings, and ceiling tiles. Unplugs drains and repairs faucets and flush valves. Responds to electrical, HVAC, and plumbing failures. Repairs medical gas outlets, carts, gurneys, IV stands, and appliances for patient use. Assists in the installation of signage and other wall-hung items. Provides maintenance support in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and facility improvement functions. Communicates with the manager and team regarding the progress of work and activities. Maintains an understanding of healthcare, federal, state, and local regulations and supports meeting the requirements. Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives. Maintains and replaces medical gases as needed in designated areas. Responds to equipment failures in the Boiler Room. Other duties as assigned.
