Job summary

AdventHealth Merriam is seeking a Facilities Technician to replace and repair patient room equipment and to respond to electrical, HVAC, plumbing and other service needs. The role supports hospital operations, safety standards and patient comfort.

Hours are 2nd Shift, Monday through Thursday 12pm–10:30pm, with a salary range posted and benefits available from Day One. A Driver's License is required and an Associate degree is preferred for advancement.

Qualifications

• Associate degree is preferred for this role.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or 5+ years of experience required.
• Driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs patient room equipment (lights, televisions, thermostats, telephones, curtain tracks, doors).
• Unplugs drains and repairs faucets and flush valves.
• Responds to electrical, HVAC, and plumbing failures.
• Repairs medical gas outlets, carts, gurneys, IV stands and appliances for patient use.
• Assists in installing signage and other wall-hung items.
• Supports regulatory compliance and quality improvement initiatives.

Job Description:

Replaces and repairs patient room equipment such as light bulbs, televisions, thermostats, telephones, curtain tracks, doors, door closers, corner guards, wall base, floor coverings, and ceiling tiles. Unplugs drains and repairs faucets and flush valves. Responds to electrical, HVAC, and plumbing failures. Repairs medical gas outlets, carts, gurneys, IV stands, and appliances for patient use. Assists in the installation of signage and other wall-hung items. Provides maintenance support in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and facility improvement functions. Communicates with the manager and team regarding the progress of work and activities. Maintains an understanding of healthcare, federal, state, and local regulations and supports meeting the requirements. Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives. Maintains and replaces medical gases as needed in designated areas. Responds to equipment failures in the Boiler Room. Other duties as assigned.
