Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems unit is seeking two 2nd shift Engineering Technician 2s to support operations at the Rocket Center, West Virginia location. The role entails operating analytical instrumentation, performing quality control tests, and providing technical support to plant personnel in a fast-paced environment.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of additional education/experience, and a technology degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years additional education/experience.
• Technology degree preferred.
• Ability to routinely lift 30 pounds and work in tight spaces.
• Willingness to work 2nd shift and weekends.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance as needed.
• Proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Operates analytical instrumentation.
• Performs standard analytical test methods for quality control, material assessment, or engineering evaluation.
• Provides technical support to plant personnel on a variety of tasks.
• Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
• Follows engineering documentation requirements including specifications and drawings.
• Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas.
• Performs quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
• Prepare, assemble and disassemble known and unique energetic articles.
• Disposes of energetics and raw materials per regulatory guidelines.
• Communicates well across multiple disciplines.
• Monitors gauge, instrument, and equipment calibrations.
• Performs a variety of technical procedures such as preparing routine solutions and reagents and performing routine reactions.
• Support research scientists with operation of sub-scale mixers.
• Able to work overtime as required.
