Job summary

I Squared R Element is seeking a mechanically inclined Engineering Technician to support assembly, fabrication, testing, and improvement of proprietary production equipment and furnace systems in our Moly-D department. The role emphasizes learning induction bending, interpreting drawings, and collaborating with engineers to drive process improvements.

The ideal candidate will enjoy hands-on work, troubleshoot mechanical systems, and develop proficiency across multiple manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the assembly, fabrication, testing, troubleshooting, and completion of specialized production equipment, prototypes, furnace systems, and custom manufacturing projects.
• Perform fabrication activities including disassembly/reassembly, insulation prep, heating element joining and installation, forming operations, and verification to drawings and tolerances.
• Learn, set up, and operate induction bending equipment under guidance to support manufacturing requirements.
• Interpret and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation to ensure accurate fabrication, assembly, inspection, and setup.
• Utilize fabrication equipment such as welders, grinders, saws, forming equipment, and other shop tools to manufacture and modify components.
• Inspect completed parts using calipers, micrometers, radius gauges, and related tools to verify quality.
• Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing personnel to identify and resolve equipment and production issues.
• Support efforts to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance process performance.
• Develop proficiency across multiple processes with ongoing training and cross-functional support.
• Maintain a safe, organized work environment and adhere to safety policies.

Job description

Reports To: Engineering Team.

Compensation is negotiable during the hiring process.

Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm, 5-days a week.

This role will require off-shift training which will occur around three(3) months into the role. The duration of training will depend on employee development. Off shift hours will be 11:00am – 7:30pm (days per week will depend on the employee and can be scheduled/negotiated during hiring).

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Engineering Technician to support specialized manufacturing operations and engineering initiatives. This hands-on role will support the assembly, fabrication, testing, and improvement of proprietary production equipment, furnace systems, and specialized manufacturing processes while developing proficiency in induction bending operations within our Moly-D manufacturing department.

The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, troubleshooting mechanical systems, interpreting technical drawings, and learning new manufacturing processes. This position is designed to build operational flexibility across critical manufacturing functions while creating long-term growth opportunities into more advanced technical and engineering support roles.

Training will be provided through close collaboration with experienced engineering and manufacturing personnel. As skills develop, the successful candidate will assume increasing levels of responsibility supporting specialized equipment, manufacturing operations, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in the assembly, fabrication, testing, troubleshooting, and completion of specialized production equipment, prototypes, furnace systems, and custom manufacturing projects.


• Perform specialized fabrication activities including component disassembly/reassembly, insulation preparation, heating element joining and installation, forming operations, and verification of part conformance to engineering drawings and tolerances.


• Learn, set up, and operate induction bending equipment under the guidance of experienced personnel to support manufacturing requirements.


• Interpret and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation to ensure accurate fabrication, assembly, inspection, and setup activities.


• Utilize fabrication equipment such as welders, grinders, saws, forming equipment, and other shop tools to manufacture and modify custom components and assemblies.


• Inspect completed parts and assemblies using precision measurement instruments including tape measures, calipers, micrometers, radius gauges, and related inspection tools to verify quality and dimensional requirements.


• Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing personnel, and other team members to identify and resolve equipment, assembly, and production issues.


• Support efforts to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, optimize productivity, and enhance overall process performance.


• Develop proficiency across multiple manufacturing processes through ongoing training and continuous learning to provide cross-functional support and assume expanded technical responsibilities.


• Maintain a safe, organized work environment while adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Excellent mechanical problem-solving abilities with the capability to analyze issues and develop practical solutions.


• High school diploma or equivalent required.


• Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred.


• Experience with metal fabrication processes, including cutting, grinding, forming, assembly, and related production techniques.


• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.


• Strong spatial visualization skills and understanding of mechanical assemblies.


• Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments and inspection tools.


• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn specialized manufacturing equipment and processes.


• Understanding of basic algebra, geometry, and measurement-based calculations.


• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.


• Flexibility to work off-shift schedules and support manufacturing operations as needed.


• Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.


• Experience with induction heating, high-temperature processes, furnace manufacturing, or industrial manufacturing equipment is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.


• Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.


• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and industrial chemicals.
