Job summary

Matlen Silver is seeking an Engineering Technician for a 12+ month contract in Salt Lake City, UT. You will assist engineers and teams in the development, testing, and analysis of products, materials, processes, or equipment.

Responsibilities include communicating technical information clearly, training others on new processes, building and testing prototypes, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring quality per GLP/QS requirements. Two-year technical degree and 2+ years experience required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years technical work experience; 5+ years preferred.
• Ability to provide preliminary equipment drawings and specs.
• Bench fixturing/tooling design experience.
• Experience with external vendors and testing/prototyping.

Job Title: Engineering Technician

Duration: 12+ months contract

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Required Pay Scale: 25-26$/hr on W2

***Due to client requirements this role is only open to USC or GC candidates***

Job Summary:

This position works with minimal supervision to assist engineers, scientists, and/or teams in the development and analysis of products, materials, processes, or equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Ability to communicate basic technical information clearly in written and oral form.
• Train others on new product processes and test procedures.
• Organize, coordinate, and execute building and testing of prototypes/products per engineering instructions.
• Assist project teams in establishing specifications and quality standards.
• Use internal resources and qualified external vendors to assist engineering teams to identify and obtain supplies and services.
• Act as a resource to other employees.
• Actively participate in project team meetings as requested.
• Communicate project status to project teams.
• Build quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
• General understanding of common engineering statistical and scientific tools (e.g Gage R&R, DOE, SPC, stress/strain analysis etc)
• Applies technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling and/or automation.
• Develop cross functional team interaction to support other teams and departments.
• Ensure product is tested to the most current/validated method/process and specification and documentation is correctly completed per GLP & QS requirements as applicable.

Design Development Responsibilities:

• Develop concepts and accordingly construct prototypes/products from concepts.
• Independently explore and propose creative solutions based on solid rationales and contribute to design and process concepts.

Process Development Responsibilities:

• Support the development and implementation of capable manufacturing processes for new products.
• Oversees development builds associated with the project.
• Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to the engineering team.
• Contributes ideas to or generates Intellectual Property submissions.
• Prepares and presents technical data and recommendations at technical reviews as requested.

Qualifications/Work Experience Required:

• Job typically requires a minimum 2 years' of technical work experience (5+ years preferred).
• Able to provide preliminary equipment and prototype drawings and specifications (testing & prototyping skills)
• Bench fixturing/tooling design experience
• Experience working with external vendors
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills
• Apply a high-level of quality to work
• Ability to multi-task

Education:

• Two-year Technical Degree (i.e., AA, Certificate) and/or equivalent experience
