Mechanical Engineering Technologist – 12‑month contract in Ogden, UT

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting a Mechanical Engineering Technologist for a 12‑month contract in Ogden, UT. This position supports the Sentinel Program, which aims to modernize the ground‑based component of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure.

Compensation: Target hourly base rate of $50.00 per hour, DOE. The role is onsite W‑2; overtime paid at time‑and‑a‑half, plus per diem and mobilization/demobilization assistance.

Eligibility: Candidates must be U.S. citizens, possess an active security clearance or the ability to obtain one. The position is 100% onsite; per diem available.

Job Summary

You will work as part of the Mechanical Engineering team, assisting the EGS Lead, engineers, and the Project Engineer/Project Manager in identifying and extracting technical data from a variety of sources. You will manage schedules, report work progress, organize and coordinate submittals, back‑check drawing updates, document reviews, meetings, and workshops. The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills to collect, organize, and present technical data using databases, and will interface with other engineering disciplines. Strong organization, teamwork, problem‑solving, and a can‑do attitude are essential.

Major Responsibilities
  • Support the EGS, Lead, and engineers in tracking information and locating documents.
  • Perform data searches and maintain open item punch list items.
  • Support meeting presentations, including preparing presentation slides.
  • Support the preparation and review of technical documents, including CAD updates/back‑checking.
  • Ensure work is performed to high‑quality standards while meeting the schedule.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and leadership, quality, and safety values within the work group and when interfacing with disciplines.
  • Maintain key process improvement registers.
  • Support a work environment fostering openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Level 1: Associate of Arts or Science (or international equivalent) with 1‑2 years of relevant work experience OR no degree with 4‑5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Level 2: Associate of Arts or Science (or international equivalent) with 3‑4 years of relevant work experience OR no degree with 5‑6 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint.
  • Strong aptitude for collecting, organizing, and presenting technical data using relational databases.
  • Ability to analyze data within technical documents, classify information for retrieval.
  • Analytical skills to monitor large amounts of information and apply efficient extraction techniques.
  • Effective communication with data analysts, engineers, technical experts, and management.
  • Attention to detail; accurately capture technical details from large documents and data sets.
  • Coordination ability across multiple disciplines and functions.
  • Interest in learning to draft intelligent P&ID.
  • Preferred: previous DoD or DOE project experience.
