Job summary

Actalent in Plano, TX is hiring an Engineering Technician to join our regulated medical-device manufacturing team. The role focuses on setting up, calibrating, and operating equipment, assembling electromechanical subassemblies, and performing functional and electrical tests.

You'll work under GMP/FDA guidelines, maintain accurate DHRs and documentation, and support process improvements and NPI initiatives. This contract position is onsite in Plano with competitive hourly compensation.

Qualifications

  • Experience with electromechanical assembly in medical devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and improve processes.
  • Experience with functional and electrical testing.
  • Familiarity with GMP/FDA-regulated environments.
  • BA/BS in Engineering preferred.

Actalent is hiring for an Engineering Technician in the Plano, TX area!

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Engineering Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in setting up, calibrating, and operating manufacturing equipment while adhering to production schedules and quality standards. This position involves assembling electromechanical subassemblies and finished medical devices, as well as conducting functional and electrical testing using both automated and manual instruments.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate basic manufacturing equipment in accordance with production schedules and quality standards.

  • Assemble electromechanical subassemblies and finished medical devices, including handling small precision components.

  • Perform functional and electrical testing using automated equipment and manual instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and function generators.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to product lines and manufacturing processes to minimize defects and elevate complex issues as needed.

  • Conduct electrical testing of medical device hardware in compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

  • Support rework, repair, servicing, and refurbishment of nonconforming products.

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production equipment and document activities in CMMS InforEAM.

  • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation, including Device History Records (DHR), ensuring traceability and compliance.

  • Utilize electronic systems and software tools for data collection and production tracking.

  • Adhere strictly to FDA regulations, Quality Management System (QMS), and Environmental Health & Safety procedures.

  • Support engineering initiatives such as process validation, continuous improvement, and new product introduction (NPI).

  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, yields, and productivity.

  • Manage priorities across multiple product lines with minimal supervision.

  • Provide cross-functional support and training to team members as needed.

  • Communicate effectively with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams.

  • Interpret technical documents, including SOPs, work instructions, and engineering drawings.

  • Support audits and inspections and collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in a medical device or highly regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.

  • Experience with cleanroom operations is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with CMMS systems such as InforEAM is beneficial.

  • Exposure to QMS, EMS, and compliance standards is desirable.

  • Experience in continuous improvement or lean manufacturing is a plus.

  • A BA/BS degree in an Engineering field is strongly preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment involves working from 6 AM to 4:30 PM, focusing on medical device manufacturing. The position requires adherence to cleanroom protocols and handling of small precision components. The dress code is aligned with cleanroom and safety standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Plano, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
