Job Title: Engineering Technician
Job Description

The Engineering Technician supports the assembly, testing, and validation of complex mechanical and electrical systems by following detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and established procedures. This role assists with prototype builds, troubleshooting, documentation, and engineering change activities while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines. The Engineering Technician also maintains laboratory and production work areas, supports material coordination, and provides occasional onsite technical support for installations, testing, and issue resolution.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble complex mechanical and electromechanical systems by following engineering drawings, specifications, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support the testing and validation of mechanical and electrical systems to ensure they meet design and performance requirements.
  • Assist with prototype builds, including mechanical assembly, fit-up, and functional verification of new designs.
  • Troubleshoot complex capital equipment and other electromechanical systems to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Use CAD tools to interpret engineering drawings and support design changes, updates, and documentation.
  • Support engineering change activities by implementing updates, documenting modifications, and communicating changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain laboratory and production work areas in a safe, organized, and efficient manner, including tools, equipment, and test setups.
  • Coordinate materials and components required for builds, tests, and validations to ensure project schedules remain on track.
  • Handle and work safely with hazardous chemicals and materials as required for testing, cleaning, or processing activities.
  • Provide occasional onsite technical support for equipment installations, testing, commissioning, and issue resolution at customer or field locations.
  • Document test results, observations, and issues clearly and accurately to support engineering analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality, to resolve technical issues and support project milestones.
Essential Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to assemble and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electromechanical systems.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex capital equipment or other electromechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools to review and understand mechanical designs and support engineering changes.
  • Experience working safely with hazardous chemicals and materials in a laboratory or production environment.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles as applied to assembly, testing, and validation.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions on mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and standard work instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and document work clearly.
  • Associate degree in engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
