Job summary

Brightwing is seeking an Electrical Technician to support assembly, integration, testing, and maintenance of electrical and electromechanical equipment in engineering and manufacturing settings.

You will work with engineering teams to build prototype hardware, prepare equipment for testing, and support product development activities with hands-on wiring and inspection tasks.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on electrical or electronics technician experience.
  • Experience wiring, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical/military standards for fabrication and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire electrical and electromechanical equipment, fixtures, and control systems
  • Build and modify prototype hardware using hand and power tools
  • Fabricate and assemble cables, connectors, wiring, and harnesses
  • Perform soldering, rework, and modifications to electronic assemblies
  • Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Set up and operate electronic and electrical test equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electromechanical systems and identify root causes
  • Document test results and observations
  • Support production builds and inspection activities
  • Maintain electrical tools and fixtures and assist undergoing changes

Job description

The Electrical Technician will support the assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical and electromechanical equipment used in engineering and manufacturing environments. This role will work closely with engineering and technical teams to build prototype hardware, prepare equipment for testing, assemble wiring and electrical components, and support product development activities.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working with electrical systems, wiring, electronic components, instrumentation, and test equipment. The ability to interpret technical drawings and electrical documentation and troubleshoot issues in a practical, methodical manner is important for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Assembly & Integration
  • Assemble and wire electrical and electromechanical equipment, fixtures, and control systems
  • Build and modify prototype and production hardware using a variety of hand and power tools
  • Fabricate and assemble cables, connectors, wiring, and harnesses
  • Perform soldering, rework, and modifications to electronic assemblies
  • Make adjustments to electrical hardware to support development and testing activities
  • Install sensors, instrumentation, and measurement equipment on equipment and prototype systems
  • Support the integration of electrical components into larger mechanical and electrical systems
Testing & Troubleshooting
  • Set up and operate electronic and electrical test equipment
  • Utilize equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, data acquisition hardware, and other measurement tools
  • Perform functional, electrical, and validation testing based on established procedures
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electromechanical systems and identify potential root causes
  • Document test results, findings, and observations
  • Assist engineering teams with verification, qualification, and development testing
  • Support the preparation and installation of prototype electrical hardware, wiring, and related components for field and customer evaluation activities
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation
  • Assist engineering personnel with prototype builds and design verification activities
  • Build, modify, and maintain specialized test fixtures and test equipment
  • Support the development and implementation of testing methods and processes
  • Provide input related to product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and test efficiency
  • Assist with engineering changes, product updates, and design revisions
Manufacturing Support
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues encountered during production and assembly
  • Support initial production builds and inspection activities
  • Maintain electrical tools, fixtures, and technical equipment
  • Assist with maintaining inventory of electrical components, tools, and test equipment
  • Follow established quality processes and manufacturing procedures
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to assembly, testing, and troubleshooting
Safety & Quality
  • Follow applicable company, electrical, and workplace safety requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Perform work in accordance with quality standards and customer requirements
  • Follow applicable technical standards and procedures for electrical fabrication and testing
  • Follow appropriate high-voltage safety practices and use required personal protective equipment
Position Requirements
Education
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline preferred
  • Equivalent military training, technical education, or relevant hands-on experience may be considered
Experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in electrical or electronics technician work preferred
  • Experience assembling, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems
  • Experience working in engineering, manufacturing, laboratory, or prototype environments
  • Familiarity with applicable electrical and military standards for fabrication and testing
  • Experience working with low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems
  • Knowledge of electrical safety practices and high-voltage PPE requirements
  • Experience with electrical systems subject to demanding environmental or electromagnetic conditions preferred
Required Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems
  • Experience with PCB assembly, soldering, and rework
  • Experience fabricating cables and wiring harnesses
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience using electronic test and measurement equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong hands-on skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with engineering and technical teams
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • CAN Bus or similar communication systems

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable using hand tools, soldering equipment, and precision measurement instruments
  • Ability to perform detailed electrical and wiring work
  • Ability to distinguish between wire colors
  • Willingness to work in laboratory, manufacturing, warehouse, and other technical work environments
