Qualifications

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience documenting test results and preparing technical reports.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in various environments.

Job description

Description

We are seeking a motivated Engineering Technician to support the U.S. Navy's MK-234 NULKA active missile decoy program at NSWC Crane. The selected candidate will provide direct support to government engineers and technicians performing depot maintenance, testing, evaluation, repair, refurbishment, and lifecycle sustainment of MK-234 system components and subassemblies.

This position requires a technically skilled individual who enjoys hands-on work in a laboratory, depot maintenance, and test environment. The successful candidate will work closely with government personnel to test and evaluate Flight Control Units (FCUs), Spin Control Units (SCUs), payload assemblies, thermal battery replacement activities, and associated support equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation of MK-234 NULKA subassemblies and components, including Flight Control Units (FCUs), payloads, and related hardware.
  • Operate and maintain specialized test equipment used to support depot maintenance and refurbishment operations.
  • Conduct pre-test and post-test inspections and document results in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Support thermal battery replacement (TBR) activities, including battery removal and installation, wire harness fabrication, verification testing, and quality documentation.
  • Assist with payload performance testing and data collection at outdoor test ranges.
  • Support vertical and horizontal runout measurements and inspections associated with payload refurbishment activities.
  • Coordinate movement, staging, inventory, and shipment of hardware between maintenance, test, and assembly facilities.
  • Generate and document Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for failed hardware and support Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
  • Work closely with engineers to identify test trends, troubleshoot failures, and improve testing efficiency while maintaining technical rigor.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, test, inspection, and quality assurance records.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Team (IPT), MRB, and technical review meetings as required.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting engineering, testing, maintenance, manufacturing, or depot operations.
  • Experience interpreting technical procedures, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Ability to operate laboratory, electrical, mechanical, or electronic test equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience documenting test results and preparing technical reports.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in laboratory, shop, warehouse, and outdoor test environments.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Education and Certifications
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology, or related technical field; equivalent military or technical experience may be substituted.
  • IPC-A-610 Certification.
  • J-STD-001 Solder Certification
