Job summary

Pearson is hiring three Software Engineering Team Managers in the United States to lead teams across Vue Testing Services, OnVue and Test Delivery. You will translate priorities into actionable plans, coach engineers, and partner with Product, Architecture and QA to deliver high-quality assessments at scale while adopting AI responsibly.

This role emphasizes coaching, governance and outcomes over hands-on coding, with competitive compensation and a focus on engineering talent development.

Qualifications

• Hands-on technical foundation in software engineering or related discipline.
• Experience leading, coaching or managing technical professionals and building teams.
• Experience delivering software products in Agile or iterative environments.
• Evidence of meaningful change, good decisions and improved delivery.
• Knowledge of modern software delivery, cloud, DevOps, CI/CD, security and observability.

Responsibilities

• Hire, onboard, coach, and retain engineers and technical professionals.
• Set clear goals, feedback rhythms, development plans and team practices.
• Translate priorities into achievable team plans and ownership.
• Track sprint and release progress, blockers, defects and risks.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Quality Engineering, DevOps, Security and Operations.
• Maintain standards for design, testing, automation, security and documentation.
• Use signals to identify patterns and drive improvement.
• Guide responsible adoption of AI-assisted development while protecting quality.
