Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking an experienced engineering leader to oversee overhead electric distribution planning, design, and construction projects. The role focuses on guiding a team of engineering assistants, ensuring safe and cost-effective delivery, and coordinating with customers and external partners.

The ideal candidate has 4–9 years in utility engineering, strong leadership, and expertise in distribution systems, joint use, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• 4–9 years of relevant utility engineering experience.
• Experience with electric utility distribution engineering, design, and construction.
• Knowledge of overhead distribution design, system planning, and joint use processes.
• Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or team leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and supervise a team of engineering assistants, establishing performance expectations and supporting growth.
• Foster a safe, positive, and customer-focused environment with accountability and continuous improvement.
• Manage engineering workload to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of projects.
• Provide technical guidance for planning, design, and construction of overhead distribution facilities.
• Review and approve engineering work requests, designs, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate joint use projects and other distribution system initiatives.
• Direct studies and analyses including load assessments, system planning, and infrastructure planning.
• Collaborate with internal teams, customers, contractors, and agencies on design, permitting, scheduling, and execution.
