University of South Florida is seeking a Manager Teaching Laboratory to oversee day-to-day operations, staff leadership, and resource coordination for instructional labs within the College of Engineering. You will ensure laboratories are safe, fully equipped, and prepared to support teaching and student learning.

The role requires coordinating lab resources, training staff, and collaborating with faculty, facilities, vendors, and external partners to align resources with instructional needs,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • One year of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree equivalency: four years of direct experience
  • Certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, Network+, A+, Dell, or Apple preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day‑to‑day planning, operation, and support for college labs; provide guidance to faculty, staff and students; coordinate tours and initiatives; liaise with departments and external partners.
  • Provide hardware, software, and peripheral support; install, configure, maintain, and lifecycle manage lab equipment and software; ensure labs are safe and ready for instructional use.
  • Deliver advanced application and technology support for departmental systems; troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, implement change management solutions.
  • Maintain lab environments by installing/configuring software/hardware, monitoring needs, coordinating repairs, and ensuring safety and readiness.
  • Collaborate with faculty, facilities, vendors, and external partners to align resources with instructional needs and 3D manufacturing tech (FDM, powder printers, desktop mills).
  • Plan and maintain specialized laboratory imaging to ensure high availability of workstations and software.
  • Provide classroom and remote tech support including setup of laptops, projectors, network access, wireless mics, and telepresence systems.
  • Coordinate with USF IT and Research Computing to ensure major software tools are configured, licensed, and implemented on university systems.
  • Perform PC/Mac configuration, imaging across the College of Engineering; troubleshoot login, drivers, backups, and hardware issues.
  • Handle miscellaneous IT duties and support faculty, staff, and students in 3D printing tools as needed.
