Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is accepting applications for a Year-Round Intern Engineering Support Tech in the Waco District. The internship provides hands-on experience in construction inspection, data collection, laboratory work, and surveying while you pursue an engineering or related science degree.

The program requires enrollment in an accredited degree program, eligibility to work in the U.S., and at least 16 years old.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS.
• Must be at least 16 years of age; high school or higher education student enrollment required.
• U.S. Citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Assist in transportation engineering support work such as construction or maintenance inspection, structural construction or maintenance.
• Assist with laboratory work, surveying, landscaping, or engineering data collection.
• Operate data collection equipment and perform routine data entry and analysis.
• Inspect construction methods and materials to meet specifications.
• Prepare base sheets, estimates, and inspection reports as needed.
• Perform drafting or CAD-related tasks and maintain project records.
