Texas Department of Transportation’s Dallas District offers an Intern Engineering Support position across multiple locations, including Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis/Navarro, Kaufman/Rockwall Counties and district offices. Official transcripts are required prior to hire, and interns gain real-world engineering experience while enrolled in an accredited degree program.

The role is part-time with a 1st shift, Mon–Fri, 40-hour weeks, onsite at various offices.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS.
• Official transcripts are required prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists in transportation engineering support work such as construction or maintenance inspection, structural construction or maintenance, laboratory work, landscaping, surveying or engineering data collection.
• Operates data collection equipment and gathers basic data for routine statistical analysis.
• Develops spreadsheets, databases and other electronic documents.
• Inspects construction methods, materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Performs data entry and computer-aided analysis.
• Performs survey work and traffic data collection.
