Lapeyre Stair is seeking a hands-on, highly technical engineering leader to lead our engineering organization and serve as the senior technical authority for our custom industrial stair systems. This role blends deep structural fabrication expertise, customer-facing leadership, and operational execution—owning the full lifecycle from concept and configuration through fabrication and delivery. This is a builder role. You will lead a small team of SolidWorks designers, work directly in CAD and ERP tools, engage customers as Lead Engineer. Engineering at Lapeyre Stair is not a back-office function—it is a core driver of customer confidence, manufacturability, margin, and scalability.
Responsibilities

- Lead the development and review of SolidWorks models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings to ensure quality, clarity, and manufacturability.
- Establish and maintain engineering best practices for structural integrity, tolerances, welding, material selection, and installation requirements.
- Act as the escalation point for complex engineering, design, and production issues.
- Serve as Lead Engineer on key customer accounts and high-complexity projects.
- Work directly with customers to define requirements, answer technical questions, and deliver engineered solutions.
- Partner with Sales to support technical scoping, solution selling, risk identification, and winning project strategies.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of SolidWorks designers while creating clear processes for design intake, reviews, revisions, and drawing release.
- Build team capability and accountability through coaching, structure, and a culture of ownership and practical problem-solving.
- Improve engineering systems and automation by working hands‑on with SolidWorks, DriveWorks, and ERP to strengthen configurator logic, BOM accuracy, and engineering‑to‑production data flow.
- Partner closely with fabrication and operations to support production readiness, improve handoffs, and drive continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, scalability, and lead time.
- Meeting business plan objectives and set performance standards and goals for the team
- Promoting the Laitram Continuous Improvement culture
- Collaborate with leadership on product innovation
