Job summary

Caltrans is seeking two student assistants to support engineering analysis, development, and administration of emergency projects within District 4. The roles are part-time, non-benefited, and located in Oakland, CA, with supervision by Senior Transportation Engineers. Candidates must be enrolled as college students and meet minimum GPA requirements.

Compensation ranges from $18.28 to $28.16 per hour. Flexible weekday schedules are offered, typically 8 AM–5 PM, with up to 24 hours per week

Qualifications

• Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term.
• Enrollment in institution listed by UEI affiliation.
• Undergraduate or graduate status with minimum unit requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist Maintenance Liaisons and Major Damage Advisor using MS Office tools and CAD software on tasks like developing spreadsheets, plans, estimates and forms.
• Assist with research of as-built plans, maintenance agreements, administrative work and special assignments.
• Investigate public complaints and inquiries; present recommendations to supervisor and track CSRs.
• Participate in field meetings and help develop project tasks.
