Job summary

The City of San Ramon is seeking a Temporary/Part-Time Assistant Engineer – CIP/GHAD to support planning, design, and construction of capital improvement projects and traffic safety initiatives. Under supervision, you will prepare designs, estimates, and reports, review development plans, and assist in consultant selection and contract administration; CAD drafting with AutoCAD is used.

This entry-level position requires Engineer-In-Training certification or pursuit and offers limited benefits.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or related field.
• Two years of professional engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as plan check engineer or project manager on routine projects, including defining project scope and coordinating with consultants and contractors.
• Prepare routine plans, designs, specifications, estimates and reports; determine materials and funding needs.
• Review private development plans for adequacy and conformance to City standards and plans.
• Provide over-the-counter engineering services to residents, contractors, and utilities.
• Provide technical advice on policies, codes and regulations; assist in resolving problems.
• Draft using AutoCAD or similar tools; maintain records and files.
