Job summary

Verdantas in Elmwood Park, NJ is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Staff I to join our team. You will perform soil sampling and subsurface investigations, document soil conditions, and support inspections and earthwork monitoring on project sites.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and 1–2 years of geotechnical experience, with some CAD/geotechnical software familiarity and a valid driver’s license. Travel to sites will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 1-2 years of geotechnical or related field experience.
• Knowledge of soil sampling and classification methods.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Basic experience with CAD and geotechnical software preferred.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform soil sampling and subsurface investigations, including Standard Penetration Testing (SPT).
• Classify and document soil conditions and maintain accurate field records.
• Support geotechnical special inspections, pile observations, and earthwork monitoring.
• Prepare boring logs, field reports, and project documentation.
• Collaborate with project managers, drilling crews, technicians, and engineering staff.
• Assist with technical reports, CAD drafting, and geotechnical data management.

What You'll Do

• Willingness to travel as project needs require.

Salary Range

The starting salary for this position is $70,000, with final compensation determined based on qualifications and licensing status.
