Job summary

Join the North Carolina Department of Transportation as an Engineering Specialist II in Division 9. You will lead the District Survey Party Chief team, handling high‑level survey data, GPS, Drone, and conventional methods, and supervise field crews to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.

You will coordinate with management, contractors and the public, review technical data, and may act as an expert witness in litigation matters.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or Survey Technology with seven years of progressive technician experience.
• Experience with route locations and survey policies is preferred.
• Ability to supervise and review survey data and work of others.

Responsibilities

• Serve as District Survey Party Chief and oversee complex survey work.
• Establish and review project control networks using GPS, Drone, or conventional methods.
• Supervise/furnish direction to survey crews and review data for accuracy.
• Communicate clearly with management, contractors and the public about technical concepts.
• Occasional field visits to ensure procedures meet standards; operate a vehicle; wear safety toe shoes.
