Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking a Combustion Lead to drive next-generation low-emission gas turbine technology. You’ll coordinate design and development of combustion systems with global engineering teams to push fuel flexibility, emissions reduction, efficiency, and decarbonization.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, manage milestones and budgets, and champion digital engineering methods to extend component life and reduce costs while advancing the decarbonization agenda.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of combustion design experience leading R&D initiatives involving product development, analysis, testing and manufacturing.
  • Experience with STARCCM+, COMSOL and heat transfer tools.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills with a proactive, structured, and customer‑focused mindset.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% for project work, shop support, and global collaboration.
  • Experience with SAP, Teamcenter, and basic programming or data analysis (Python, Excel VBA, SQL) is a plus.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

  • Technical input to the current fleet and next generation combustion systems.
  • Develop the technical Product Design Specification / Project Description (PDS/PB) based on the PRS.
  • Report project status to Engineering Management and elevate critical issues in a timely manner (technical, commercial, quality, or schedule-related).
  • Represent Engineering in both internal and external customer communications, including reports and meetings.
  • Serve as the technical project lead and primary engineering contact for development programs, with responsibility for team disciplines, milestones, and budgets.
  • Developing next-generation combustion hardware that supports Siemens Energy’s decarbonization goals while adhering to the Product Development Process (PDP).

In this highly visible role, you’ll drive the design and development of innovative combustion systems and components, partnering with global engineering teams to push the boundaries of fuel flexibility, emissions reduction, efficiency, and decarbonization. Leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers, you’ll coordinate the development of critical combustion components while collaborating closely with stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, new product development, procurement, and frame program management. Beyond delivering successful combustion programs, you’ll champion initiatives that extend component life, improve reliability, reduce costs, and accelerate the adoption of digital technologies through advanced engineering methods and cross-functional leadership. How You’ll Make an Impact

What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years of combustion design experience leading R&D initiatives involving product development, analysis, testing and manufacturing. Experience with one of the skills in numerical tools such as STARCCM+, COMSOL and any heat transfer tools is intended. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills with a proactive, structured, and customer‑focused mindset.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% for project work, shop support, and global collaboration.
  • Experience with SAP, Teamcenter, and basic programming or data analysis (Python, Excel VBA, SQL) is a plus.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators.
