Job summary

Grove Technical Resources seeks a Sr. Engineering Project Manager to lead complex capital and manufacturing projects in a GMP-regulated life sciences setting in Columbus, OH. You will drive scope, schedule, budget, and resources with hands-on leadership across Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Vendors.

The role requires 7–10+ years in pharma/biotech environments and proven experience delivering end-to-end capital projects, including packaging and line upgrades, in a GMP context.

Sr. Engineering Project Manager / Senior Project Manager

Location: Columbus, OH

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Engineering Project Manager / Senior Project Manager to lead complex capital and manufacturing projects within a GMP-regulated life sciences environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex, multi-disciplinary capital projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, and overall execution.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects involving packaging and manufacturing equipment, production line upgrades, facility expansions, warehouse systems, cold rooms, VLMs, and facility improvements.
  • Lead production line shutdowns, equipment replacements, installations, relocations, and cutovers, developing detailed execution and contingency plans to minimize manufacturing downtime.
  • Provide hands‑on floor leadership while coordinating Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Automation, Operations, EHS, contractors, vendors, and system integrators.
  • Lead packaging equipment projects involving fillers, inspection systems, labeling equipment, conveyors, cartoners, case packers, serialization systems, and related manufacturing infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, budgets, forecasts, milestones, change orders, risks, and dependencies.
  • Provide clear project status, financial reporting, risk updates, and escalations to site and senior leadership.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences environments.
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end capital projects from planning through installation, startup, and operational handoff.
  • Strong experience with production line shutdowns, equipment installations, replacements, relocations, and cutovers.
  • Technical project experience with packaging, fill/finish, inspection systems, manufacturing equipment, facility infrastructure, and/or warehouse/logistics systems.
  • Experience with cold rooms, temperature-controlled storage, and Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs) is highly preferred.
  • Strong experience leading on‑floor execution in GMP manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project or similar project planning and scheduling tools.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost control, risk management, change management, integrated scheduling, and executive reporting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem‑solving, and stakeholder management skills.
