Job summary

The City of Salem Public Works is hiring civil engineers at three levels—Engineering Program Manager, Senior Project Manager, or Project Manager—based on experience and certification. The hybrid schedule features in-office work at the Operations/Engineering Building 3–4 days weekly with remote days by manager approval.

Minimum qualifications include a Civil Engineering degree and Oregon PE license; 6–12+ years of experience depending on level; strong communication and time management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • Professional Civil Engineer License in Oregon within one year of appointment.
  • Possession of an Oregon driver license and driving record meeting city standards.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects across water treatment, water distribution, wastewater treatment, sewer collection, and stormwater.
  • Lead project teams and supervise engineering staff/ interns.
  • Oversee budgets, regulatory permits, QA/QC, and project delivery procedures.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders citywide to deliver complex municipal infrastructure projects.
