Job summary

The City of Salem Public Works is hiring civil engineers at three levels across the Engineer 4/3/2 ladder. The team focuses on water treatment, distribution, wastewater, and stormwater projects, with supervision and design/construct responsibilities.

Hybrid schedule available: in-office 3–4 days per week with remote work possible on other days with manager approval. Competitive base pay and strong benefits are provided. Six‑month eligibility list established for ongoing openings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Civil Engineer License required within one year of appointment.
• Twelve years of Civil Engineering experience for Engineer 4 level; 10+ years for Engineer 3; 6+ years for Engineer 2.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple civil projects from planning through construction for municipal infrastructure.
• Lead project teams of engineers and interns; oversee budgets, permits, and QA/QC.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and ensure alignment with City policies and goals.
• Provide technical direction across water, wastewater, stormwater, and transportation projects.
