Job summary

Highspring LLC (d/b/a Vaco by Highspring) seeks an Engineering Plans Examiner in Columbus, OH to review engineering plans for compliance with local, state, and federal codes. The role requires strong interpretation of civil, structural, and related disciplines and coordination with engineers, architects, and agencies.

The successful candidate will have a BC degree in civil engineering with 4+ years of plan review experience, and proficiency in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in engineering plan review, design, or construction.
• Strong knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering plans, calculations, and reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate engineering plans, calculations, and specifications for code compliance.
• Examine civil, structural, transportation, drainage, and related plans.
• Identify deficiencies and prepare correction comments and reports.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, and agency staff.
• Provide technical guidance on engineering codes and standards.
• Maintain records of plan reviews, approvals, and revisions.
• Meet turnaround times and service level agreements for plan review.
• Stay current with changes in engineering codes and best practices.
• Support permitting and entitlement processes as required.
