Job summary

Peraton seeks an experienced Operations Lead - Engineering in Beltsville, MD to serve as the senior technical and operational authority for the SOC Engineering division. You will oversee the full lifecycle of SOC engineering operations, including systems administration, virtualization platforms, and cloud environments.

You will lead a team, enforce ITIL-aligned processes, ensure compliance with security standards, and drive staffing, continuity planning, and performance metrics across 24x7

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in CS, engineering, IT, or related field.
• 12+ years IT/cybersecurity experience in critical infrastructure.
• 5+ years IT cloud-based security infrastructure protection.
• 8+ years in cybersecurity system design, engineering, and deployment.
• Experience with Windows/Linux enterprise environments and AD, DNS, DHCP, PKI.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership to system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity engineers for 24x7 SOC operations.
• Oversee systems administration, patching, hardening, lifecycle management, and operational readiness.
• Lead SOC virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V) and cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Gov Government).
• Develop SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation; brief senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Manage shift coverage, on-call rotations, continuity plans, and surge staffing.
• Coordinate with SOC Analysts, Incident Responders, and Threat Intelligence teams to meet mission needs.
• Ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, DISA STIGs, and O&M requirements.
• Lead after-action reviews, track corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
