Job summary

Otay Water District in San Diego County is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate the Engineering Department's Water Resources, Planning, Design, and Environmental sections. The ideal candidate will lead major capital projects, manage consultants, ensure compliance with laws, and mentor staff while advancing the District's CIP and safety standards.

A California PE license and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering are required; a master's degree

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Seven years of professional experience in planning, design, and construction for water/wastewater facilities.
• Four years of experience managing consultants or two years of supervision.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate the Engineering Department sections (Water Resources, Planning, Design, Environmental).
• Oversee major capital projects and administer consultant contracts; review costs and compliance.
• Represent the District in negotiations with consultants on fees and project charges.
• Develop and monitor budgets and performance measures; participate in Board meetings.
