Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager for the Foundation in Wallet, Payments & Commerce in New York City. You will lead a team of engineering managers and engineers, owning end-to-end delivery across critical services powering Apple Pay and related platforms.

You will shape technical strategy, designs, and operational excellence, mentor leaders, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure scalability, security, and reliability in a complex, financial-grade environment.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience and 8+ years of direct engineering management.
• Strong production experience with JVM-based languages, microservices, and high-availability server-side services.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems fundamentals, including SQL and NoSQL data stores, and multi-region deployment topologies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical design and architecture reviews, evaluate complex trade-offs, identify technical risks, and drive operational excellence including on-call culture and incident management.
• Strong decision-making and communication skills in ambiguous environments, with the ability to deliver structured feedback, communicate strategy clearly, and build trust with cross-functional partners across organizational boundaries.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of engineering managers and software engineers.
• Own end-to-end delivery from scoping through production rollout.
• Guide the technical direction and architecture for services supporting your portfolio of capabilities.
• Maintain deep technical engagement across your team's codebase and architectures, facilitating rigorous design reviews and risk identification.
• Build trusted relationships and drive alignment with Product, Compliance, Privacy, Program Management, and other teams.
• Improve and maintain standards for operational health, including on-call processes, incident response, capacity planning, and maintainability.
• Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and delivery excellence.
