Cartesia AI, Inc. in San Francisco is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a growing Product Engineering team.

You will be a hands-on senior technologist and people leader, shaping interfaces around our models—Voices, Voice Agents, and shared infrastructure—while growing team size, quality, and impact. You will stay close to the work, mentor engineers, and establish operating rhythms to ship exceptional products.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of product engineering experience, including leading or managing engineers at a high product bar.
• Strong current technical ability with architecture, design reviews, debugging, and production-quality code.
• Experience building polished, customer-facing product surfaces and product taste for excellent experiences.
• Track record of coaching engineers, giving direct feedback, handling performance issues, and expanding scope.
• Evidence of leading through context, judgment, and contribution beyond formal reporting lines.
• Strong cross-functional instincts with Product and Design to set direction and tradeoffs.
• Track record of hiring strong product engineers in a competitive market, including sourcing and closing.

Responsibilities

• Build alongside the team and contribute directly to important product and technical work, especially while the team is growing.
• Lead and develop product engineers through coaching, feedback, career development, and high performance standards.
• Grow the Product Engineering team by sourcing, interviewing, and closing exceptional engineers.
• Partner with Product and Design to shape what we build and make strong product/technical tradeoffs.
• Establish a predictable execution cadence without slowing speed.
• Raise the quality bar through hands-on design, code reviews, and clear examples of excellence.
• Take ownership of cross-cutting surfaces — including billing, files, and rotations — and jump in when needed.
• Define how Product Engineering should evolve while staying close to customers, product, and code.
