Job summary

Rillet, an AI-native ERP company, is seeking an Engineering Manager, Product Engineering, to own a large portion of our core product engineering team. You will shape team structure and scale the organization, partnering with product and design to drive ambitious initiatives while delivering reliable, high-quality software.

You will mentor engineers, recruit top talent, and contribute technically during a critical growth period.

Qualifications

• 4+ years managing product engineering teams at high-growth tech companies, with 6+ years in engineering overall.
• Experience managing multiple teams simultaneously and operating at that level of organizational complexity.
• Proven experience driving organizational change and building in ambiguous environments.

Responsibilities

• Own product engineering for a large part of Rillet's engineering org, setting direction and architecture for scale.
• Partner with product managers, designers, and SMEs to influence what we build, not just how.
• Drive multiple high-stakes initiatives from conception to launch with focus on quality and reliability.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a talented team of engineers and establish craft standards.
• Recruit and onboard exceptional engineers to accelerate product development as we grow.
• Contribute hands-on with code during growth phase, impacting the product surface.

Who We Need

Rillet's product engineering team is the engine behind everything our customers experience - and as our Engineering Manager, Product Engineering, you'll own it. You'll be owning a large part of our core product engineering team going through its next phase of growth. You're stepping in at a pivotal moment, with real scope to shape how the team is structured, how it operates, and where it goes.

We're looking for someone who is as excited about what gets built as how it gets built - a leader who drives engineering excellence, partners deeply across functions, and develops the team that ships what our customers love.

We’re looking for teammates who are based near our New York City or San Francisco offices, or open to relocating. Our hybrid schedule brings the team together in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus one additional flexible day each week. Some roles may spend more time in the office depending on the needs of the team.

What You’ll Do

• Own product engineering for a large part of Rillet's engineering org - setting direction, shaping team structure, and making the organizational and architectural calls that unlock scale.
• Partner with product managers, designers, and subject matter experts to influence what we build, not just how we build it.
• Drive multiple high-stakes product initiatives from conception to launch, maintaining a high bar for quality and reliability.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a talented team of engineers, building the culture and craft standards that define great product engineering at Rillet.
• Recruit and onboard exceptional engineers who will help accelerate product development as we grow.
• Get hands-on with code during this critical growth phase, contributing directly to Rillet's product surface.

Who We're Looking For

• 4+ years managing product engineering teams at high-growth tech companies, with 6+ years in engineering overall
• Experience managing multiple teams simultaneously - whether through managers or technical leads - and comfortable operating at that level of organizational complexity
• Proven experience stepping into complex team situations and driving meaningful organizational change - you've done the hard work, not just the clean-slate builds
• Strong cross-functional collaborator who translates seamlessly between technical and non-technical stakeholders and moves fast in dynamic environments
• A culture carrier who sets a high bar and makes it contagious - you know what great looks like and help others rise to meet it
• Drawn to hard, ambiguous problems and energized by building in environments where you're figuring things out as you go

Bonus Points

• Experience scaling and subdividing engineering teams during periods of rapid growth
• Recent hands‑on experience with Kotlin, Java, or TypeScript and solid CI/CD practices
• Background in fintech, ERP, or accounting software
• Familiarity with enterprise readiness (SOC 2, SSO/SAML, audit logging, or similar)
