Job summary

Tyler Technologies is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead the Priority Based Budgeting engineering team, guiding development of our cloud-native platform used by local governments.

You will manage distributed engineers across geographies, drive Agile/DevOps practices, and mentor engineers to deliver reliable software at scale while collaborating with product, architecture, and platform operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• Experience leading software engineering teams and delivering complex projects.
• Hands-on background with large-scale web apps; familiar with .NET, JavaScript, SQL Server, AWS.
• Strong DevOps, CI/CD, Agile, and SDLC knowledge.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders and distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers responsible for building, maintaining, and evolving the Priority Based Budgeting platform on a modern AWS-native architecture.
• Promote an engineering culture across distributed teams emphasizing communication, trust, accountability and shared ownership of outcomes.
• Partner with product management, architecture, platform operations, and support to align development priorities with business goals and customer outcomes.
• Coach, mentor, and develop engineers through regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and career growth planning; foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
• Drive adoption of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices to improve delivery velocity, quality, and reliability across the lifecycle.
• Balance roadmap execution with operational escalations; protect team capacity while remaining responsive to production issues.
• Establish accountability for reliability, security, performance, and operational excellence; monitor and improve service health.
• Encourage modern software practices including AI-assisted tools, observability, and cloud-native architectures.
• Define and track engineering KPIs related to delivery, quality, reliability, engagement, and customer satisfaction.
