Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) invites applications for an Engineering Manager – Powertrain Testing Laboratory in Superior Township, MI.

You will lead a team of engineers and technicians testing propulsion technologies, validating hardware, and collaborating across Design, Vehicle Evaluation, and Planning to meet program targets. Responsibilities include overseeing lab components, calibration, and developmental mapping for production and R&D, plus budgeting and reporting.

Qualifications

• A.S. or B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of automotive testing experience.
• 2+ years of project management experience.
• Knowledge of propulsion/powertrain principle/operation.
• Experience with EPA and SAE standard test procedures.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing of propulsion technology and validate hardware.
• Manage lab components such as dyno controller, dyno, high power supply, thermal systems, data acquisition.
• Oversee calibration, development, and mapping for current production and R&D projects.
• Collaborate with Design, Vehicle Evaluation, & Planning teams.
• Mentor and develop engineers and technicians; manage hiring and performance.
• Plan and monitor department budget and purchasing; support travel.
• Prepare bi-weekly management reports and project summaries.
• Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
