Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a Vehicle Safety Component Test Technician for its Superior Township, Michigan facility.

You will support a range of component testing tasks within the Vehicle Safety Test Team and the Component Test Laboratory, focusing on passive safety testing across Hyundai, Kia and Genesis programs. The role requires hands-on testing, assembly/disassembly of vehicle components, and operation of measurement and data-collection equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience working in automotive R&D testing environments.
• Strong Mechanical Aptitude; able to assemble/disassemble with basic hand tools.
• Experience with interior and exterior vehicle components disassembly/reassembly.
• Strong Electrical Aptitude; proficient with a DMM and basic soldering.
• Diligent in documenting processes and procedures; good at recordkeeping.
• Proficient troubleshooting and PC skills (MS365).

Responsibilities

• Review test plan with engineers to understand load case preparation and post-test action.
• Perform component safety testing using on-site test equipment (FMVSS 201u, FMVSS 226, Pedestrian Protection).
• Prepare/Assemble/Disassemble vehicle test components (interior/exterior trim).
• Test operation and maintenance of compressed gas-powered impact test rig.
• Test operation of 3D measurement devices (FARO CMM; 3D handheld scanner).
• Prepare instrumentation for testing and calibration management.
• Test data collection devices operation and data acquisition (DTS, High Speed Video, still photography).
• Accurate record keeping and data analysis; prepare reports.
• Fabricate fixtures and maintain tooling; ensure safe shop environment.
