Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking an Engineering Manager for Insurance Platforms & Developer Enablement in the Boston/Waltham area. You will lead a team focused on modernizing engineering practices, scaling internal platforms, and accelerating software delivery for underwriting, policy, billing, and claims systems.

You will guide platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, and developer tooling, champion AI-assisted development, and foster a high-impact engineering culture in a regulated insurance

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 2+ years in leadership of software teams.
• Strong backend development background.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale apps.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Experience in cloud-based infrastructure environments.
• Understanding of Kubernetes and containers.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Experience leading large technical initiatives with stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of platform and backend engineers.
• Drive improvements to software delivery and developer productivity.
• Build scalable internal development platforms and automation.
• Improve release management, deployment automation, and reliability.
• Partner with engineering and business teams to prioritise platform investments.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes and boost efficiency.
• Establish standards around testing, observability, infra, and deployment.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies to improve engineering effectiveness.
