The role leads engineering activities from concept to commissioning, coordinating design, construction, and operations while prioritizing safety, quality and regulatory compliance.

The position is remote with travel 25-50% to project sites, offering hourly compensation in the mid-to-upper range and benefits.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive engineering experience on large-scale regulated projects.
• Experience as Engineering Manager, Owner's Representative, or Design Manager.
• Knowledge of cGMP, qualification/validation, utilities, automation, and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary engineering representative for a major client across design to commissioning.
• Develop engineering strategies, governance, and decision-making frameworks.
• Ensure solutions are compliant, constructible, and traceable to owner standards.
• Lead design reviews, calculations, specs, and deliverables at milestones.
• Monitor scope, budget, schedule, quality, and safety, addressing variances.
• Manage relationships with design firms, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Support field activities, ensuring installations meet design intent and standards.

JSG is seeking an Engineering Manager - Owner's Rep for our client Join a transformative leadership team as an Engineering Manager - Owner's Rep, where your expertise will safeguard and advance vital pharmaceutical and life sciences projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead engineering activities throughout all project phases, ensuring seamless coordination between design, construction, and operational teams while championing safety, quality, and compliance. Remote role Pay $85/hour to $95/hour

What You’ll Do:

• Act as the primary engineering representative for a major client, overseeing multidisciplinary efforts from conceptual design through commissioning
• Develop and implement engineering strategies, governance processes, and decision-making frameworks to meet project objectives
• Ensure technical solutions are compliant, constructible, maintainable, and aligned with owner standards and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate and lead reviews of designs, calculations, specifications, and other critical deliverables at key milestones
• Monitor performance against scope, budget, schedule, quality, and safety targets, proactively addressing variances
• Manage relationships with design firms, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to foster collaboration and accountability
• Support field activities, ensuring installations meet design intent and operational standards, and facilitate timely resolution of technical issues

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related engineering discipline; PE license preferred
• 15+ years of progressive engineering experience, with significant responsibility for large-scale, regulated manufacturing projects (pharma, biotech, biopharma, or chemical industries)
• Proven track record as an Engineering Manager, Owner's Representative, or Design Manager on complex projects
• Deep knowledge of cGMP, qualification and validation processes, utilities, automation, and facility systems
• Strong organizational, leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines
• Proficiency with engineering and project management tools such as Microsoft Office, Project, and collaboration platforms

Nice to Have:

• Experience with EPCM, design-build, or integrated project delivery models
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical decisions in relation to cost, schedule, and risk management
• Additional certifications related to project management or specialized engineering fields

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to travel 25-50% to project sites in Alabama and Virginia
