Job summary
Schmid Tool & Engineering in Villa Park, IL, seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the New Project Launch Engineers, support new product introductions, and drive process optimization across production and quality operations.
You will oversee capital projects, set technical standards, mentor engineers and technicians, manage vendor specifications and RFQs, and champion lean manufacturing to meet profitability goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience, with supervisory/leadership roles.
- Experience with CNC machining, heat treating, and quality control processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the New Project Launch Engineering department to meet customer demand and profit margin goals.
- Oversee product launches, specification changes, and process changes.
- Define capital equipment purchases and prepare investment budgets/payback analyses.
- Manage implementation plans for new part projects and create/update ERP routings.
- Mentor and coach New Product Launch Engineers and Technicians.
- Lead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure safety, quality, and adherence to customer requirements.
