Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA invites a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead the Emerging Simulation and Integration Section within Modeling & Simulation and Cloud Computing Architecture. You will direct distributed teams, drive mission-critical modeling, and partner with DoD and government customers to deliver scalable, cloud-enabled simulation solutions.

Applicants should have a STEM degree, 6+ years in leading software teams, strong C++ or Python skills, and a TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable STEM areas.
• 6 years of applicable professional or educational experience.
• Experience leading development teams and coordinating complex tasks.
• Ability to translate customer needs into developer instructions.
• Experience with AI/ML-enhanced simulation or cloud-native deployment is a plus.
• Proficiency in C++ or Python.
• Experience with Bitbucket, Jira, GitHub, or similar.
• Willing to travel occasionally.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead geographically distributed teams of developers researching, prototyping, and integrating emerging simulation technologies into existing modeling and simulation workflows, leveraging cloud-native platforms and architectures to accelerate deployment, through workload management, performance assessment, mentoring, and staff development
• Develop relationships with Aerospace Program Offices and US Government customers to identify opportunities, deliver modeling and simulation software solutions, and prioritize business development and long-term customer engagement
• Partner with department management to synthesize and execute organizational strategic vision across multiple sections
• Mentor junior developers on evaluating and integrating emerging technologies, architecture design, requirements development, and workflow integration
• Drive staff retention, recruiting, hiring, and onboarding while pursuing compute infrastructure and clearance portfolios
