Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Modeling & Simulation Engineer to advance software for MS&A across multiple space programs. You will translate program needs into modeling tasks, develop briefings, and collaborate with program offices in a full-time onsite role.

Minimum requirements include a Master’s in a related field (or within 12 months of conferral), 0–1 year of industry experience, proficiency in C++ (preferably C++20), Python, and hands-on modeling/simulation

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, optical engineering, physics, mathematics, or related field (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
• 0-1 year industry experience
• 0-1 year of experience in modern software development using a systems software language
• Proficiency in C++, preferably in C++20
• Comfortable working with and following a large code base in C++
• Experience with Python
• Experience in modeling and simulation
• Experience in at least one of the following: optics, beam control, filtering, multi-int tracking, tasking, mission management, data transport, C2 processes, SIGINT system modeling, kill chain analysis, orbit determination
• Familiar with high level modeling using various sensor types such as radar, SIGINT, EO, OTHR, etc.
• Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team and manage multiple simultaneous tasks
• Demonstrated strong work ethic, self-motivation, and willingness to take initiative
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A bias for action and the ability to identify shortcomings and address them with initiative

Responsibilities

• Advancing software solutions for modeling and simulation applications
• Leveraging modern tech stack and enforcing best practices in modern software development and maintainability
• Assisting in converting programmatic requirements into actionable work
• Work closely with cross-mission program offices and customers to translate needs into modeling, simulation, and analysis tasks
• Develop and present briefings and reports for program offices and customers
• Travel occasionally as required
