Job summary

GAM Enterprises in Mount Prospect, IL seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the mechanical design department and participate in design and development efforts. You will oversee four engineers, drive new product designs, and help shape processes and standards.

The role requires mentoring, customer collaboration, and hands-on engineering analysis to address issues and improve products. A strong CAD background and gear experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years in mechanical engineering design, including assemblies.
• 5 years in supervisory role with impactful results.
• Design gears, gearboxes or drivetrain assemblies.
• Experience with metal gear manufacturing.
• Awareness of CNC manufacturing methods.
• Experience with AGMA, ANSI, and GD&T standards.
• Advanced CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and oversee the mechanical design department of four engineers.
• Establish and implement processes, procedures, and standards.
• Develop and mentor engineers for growth in knowledge and career path.
• Create new product designs and develop new product lines.
• Modify existing designs to meet customer requirements.
• Collaborate with customers on new applications and define requirements.
• Perform engineering analysis on returns and provide field support.
• Create/modify documentation: assembly instructions, BOMs, processes, reports.
• Edit technical content in marketing and sales materials.
• Provide technical support to teammates in sales and customer service.
• Guide in in-house gear manufacturing initiatives.
